FKM NEWS – Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Airlangga, arranged guest lecture on Tuesday until Thursday, 10 – 12 July 2018, lectured by Prof. Yashwant Pathak, Ph.D., M.Pharm, a professor of University of South Florida. The Sumarto auditorium was fulfilled by S1 students of Nutritional Sciences and S1 and S2 students of Public Health Sciences to join the guest lecture themed “Global Public Health”.
In his lecture, the speaker discussed the material regarding global health issues. Prof. Pathak elaborated all of the factors influencing the status of public health as well as the importance of the problem solving for the sustainability of human life. Other than that, he also explained the roles of university students and bachelors of public health in overcoming the issues of global health.
Prof. Pathak who is a nanotechnologist in the field of public health stated that health workers have vital roles regarding the issues of global health. Professional health workers require comprehensible work guide to help escalating global health level. This includes performing accreditation standardization by every university with health department along with strong commitment to increase the health system in every region.
This three-meeting lecture with the duration of 2 hours per meeting attain good appreciation from the participants. “The purpose of joining this guest lecture is to acquire new knowledge including the policies from other countries concerning this global health issue. The speaker was also sharing about the Global Health Policy in the U.S.”, said Diani, one of the students of Nutritional Sciences Department who joined the guest lecture.
