ABSTRACT

Pasongsongan village is a village located in the coastal areas in Sumenep. The village has a different geographical conditions, namely the coastal and mountain closely spaced. On the coast, the livelihood of the population are fishermen and farmers on the mountain. The aim of this study was to describe the eatinghabits on Pasongsongan village communities living in coastal areas and mountains.This was use a qualitative research method, the study subjects were several informants. Data collection was done by observation and interviews.The diet of people who live in coastal areas is the staple food rice corn, maize or rice mixed with white rice, eating animal protein is fish on every day, eat eggs, tofu and tempe, eating only chicken and beef during the celebration, rarely eat vegetables and certain vegetables. People living in the mountains, the staple food maize rice and white rice, animal protein consumed are fish, chicken and beef consumption during the celebration, eating eggs, tofu and tempe, and eating fruits and vegetables because of the land to grow vegetables and fruits.Village geographical conditions do not affect the eating habits of people living in coastal areas and mountains. There are similarities of the two different areas of the same ie the staple food, like fish, low in animal protein consumption, namely chicken and beef because it is expensive and consumed during the celebration. In the mountain community of food consumed more varied and describe nutrients consumed more than coastal communities.Nutrition education interventions need to be done to coastal communities to improve eating habits in a bad season fish.
